From:  Floyds Knobs Community Club Board of Directors

Here it is 2010 baseball/softball season already. We hope all of our members, friends and families had a healthy, safe and fulfilling 2009.  As a new year ( and new decade ) will bring things unexpected, so are changes in our BB/SB Program.

We, the BOD of FKCC, have once again assumed the direction of the everyday operation of the BB/SB Program.  It will now be ran by our chosen representatives.

When FKCC was founded, one of the prime goals of our mission statement was to provide baseball to the youth of our community.  While the program has been operating since the early 1960s, we have not, in recent years been involved to the level we feel is necessary.

The BB/SB Program is an activity that is sponsored by FKCC, just as Thursday night Euchre and Shooting  Matches are.  The difference however, is that years ago, the BB/SB Program became too large for the FKCC BOD to dedicate adequate time to.  It was then decided to create a committee to handle the demands of the growing program.  The committee has always been expected to operate under the supervision of the FKCC BOD.  This at times has been a struggle.  With this being said, the FKCC BOD are excited to announce that John and Chris Engle are now the Directors of the Baseball/Softball Program.

John has been involved for the last 18 years in our program.  He has coached for 16 of those years, many years 2 or 3 teams in a season.  He has served on the BB/SB Committee since 2004 and was instrumental in the monumental improvements made to the park in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Chris has also been involved in our program for 18 years.  Between their four children, whom have all gone through our program, she has coached, served as league director for many years and served on the BB/SB Committee for 5 years, 3 of which she served as Baseball/Softball League President.  When Chris became League President in 2004, she also became a member of the FKCC BOD.  We had a very good working relationship with her and an open line of communication.

Because of John and Chris Engle’s many years of volunteer work and service to our program, we feel that they are well qualified to serve in this position.  They have an essential understanding the role the FKCC BOD plays in this operation.

We know that with this restructuring it may be difficult at times this season.  With all of us having a common goal, this being a positive experience for our children, we feel that if all involved act responsibly, our goal will be achieved.

Thank you,

Floyds Knobs Community Club Board of Directors
